One Day Workshops

Justine Warner
Experimental Textiles with Bondaweb and Free Machine Embroidery.

Saturday 10th November 2018 : 10am to 4pm

£75 - (includes lunch and materials)

Bondaweb is traditionally used to attach different fabrics to each other using an iron or heat treatment. During this course we will look at how we can be more creative with this basic material to creative exciting effects for using in artworks.
You will be shown a range of experimental techniques using Bondaweb and mixed media materials. You will mainly use fabric and papers to create a number of pieces by collaging and layering.
During the second half of the session we will work into backgrounds using free machine embroidery on a sewing machine.
No previous sewing machine experience necessary but you will need to bring your own fully working machine including a free machine embroidery foot/ drop feed dog. I will be happy to discuss whether your machine will be able to do this before the course date if you are unsure.
Please bring suitable clothing or an apron as we will be using paints and inks which could damage your clothes. You may also like to bring in fabrics or papers which you would like to use in your work and your own threads for your machine and fabric scissors.

Classes - over several Weeks/Months:

An Introduction to Printmaking

In 2017/18 Patrick Smith ran a year-long course on printmaking. As we draw to the end of this year we've decided to make some changes to the format - improvements we hope!
Rather than short classes on Monday afternoons, Patrick will be running four day-long workshops spread throughout the year, introducing the same topics as covered in the previous one-year course. We'll also be planning to schedule some 'open-print' days for people on the courses. The end result will be the same as the previous print course, but in longer 'blocks'.
More information in a couple of weeks.
