Eleanor White

Conversations with Colour
Tuesday 30th April to Thursday 2nd May 2019

The course will get off to an exciting start by playing with colour in a variety of ways and applications both in an expressive and controlled manner. This will create an understanding of what colours give joy and immediate inspiration and what colours we need to make friends with! Through this exploration an understanding of the viscosity of paint, its opacity and translucency will come into play.

Tuition will be given in the use of glazes and textured pastes and the potential these have to inform choices made within building final images. Inspiration will come from engaging with the landscape, weather permitting by gathering drawings on location then returning to the studio with both in depth drawings and quick sketches to give the starting point to building a body of paintings in glorious colour.

About Eleanor

Eleanor White moved to Ullapool in 1994 where she established Bridge House Art, a school which runs both a summer school and a full time portfolio course during the winter months.

The origins of this was her involvement and teaching at both the Edinburgh Academy and the Leith School of Art where she taught for six years. Eleanor has been the invited guest tutor for Rufus Reade Tours Edinburgh for over 20 years, and has had the privilege of travelling and painting in many exotic and exciting locations around the world. She is also a guest tutor for Arbuthnott holidays in Andalucia, Spain.

Her year is split into full time teaching for Bridge House Art, community education, and travelling workshops around the UK and Spain, along with working towards exhibitions in the UK.
